Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: The Laying on of Hands
Scripture Reading: Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
Matthew 8:15
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
What we have said in previous devotionals about the anointing residing is us does not, mean believers should not anoint themselves or others with the anointing oil, or lay hands on people for healing to take place. We must be balanced in our doctrines and practices as believers. The laying on of hands is one of the foundational doctrines of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 6:1-2). Believers must not allow it to die off especially in the days of the covid-19 pandemic with its numerous safety protocols.
Why should someone lay hands on you or anoint you with oil if you already have the anointing? The main purpose of the laying on of hands is the impartation of the gifts of the Holy Ghost. Impartation is giving and receiving – transferring – spiritual gifts, blessings, healing and baptism in the Holy Ghost. The apostle Paul imparted spiritual gift into Timothy by the laying on of his hands (2 Timothy 1:6).
No one has everything all by himself. At a point, the apostle Paul longed to see the Romans so he could impart spiritual virtue to them (Romans 1:11). The laying on of hands gives you another dimension or measure of the anointing.
Prayer: Pray and declare that anything or anyone you touch is blessed.
