THEME SCRIPTURE:
Genesis 28:12 (KJV)
And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
MESSAGE:
Prayer to Almighty God in heaven, in the Name of Jesus, is a supernatural act because it establishes a connection between heaven and earth.
God does not intervene in the situations of humankind unless there’s a connection. God does not draw near to us unless we draw near to Him (James 4:8). This is what baffles the mind of the ignorant, especially those who claim there’s no God. The argument of those who doubt the existence of God is that, “If there’s God who created heaven and earth, why are so many people afflicted but He doesn’t intervene? Why has God not come to the aid of those suffering on earth?” Do you also reason like that? God has given the earth to humankind to take charge of; He doesn’t intervene in our affairs unless we invite Him. God doesn’t step into our situations unless we involve Him. And this is where prayer comes in. For instance, James 5:13a (KJV) says, “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.” One may wonder why God wouldn’t solve the problem of someone who is afflicted, because it’s obvious the afflicted needs help. Well, God expects the afflicted to establish a connection between heaven and earth through prayer, and He will intervene supernaturally.
Our theme Scripture is a reference to a dream Jacob had, in which he saw a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. This is a perfect picture of what prayer does. Whenever we pray to the Almighty God, in the Name of Jesus, we set up “a ladder” on earth, which connects to God in heaven; and it is upon that connection that the angels of God ascend to heaven with our prayer requests, and then descend to the earth with answers to our prayer. This is the reason why Scripture admonishes us to pray without ceasing (1Thessalonians 5:17). If we want to stay in constant fellowship with God, and would want Him to intervene in our situations, we must maintain a constant and continuous connection with Him through prayer.
Have you prayed today? There are so many natural circumstances of our lives that require supernatural assistance. The supernatural simply means, that which is superior to the natural. Why don’t you utilise the supernatural provision God has given us, by establishing a connection between heaven and earth through prayer?
