Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: The Anointed Head
Scripture Reading: Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
One of the major challenges believers face is to remain anointed every day of our lives. Sometimes we feel heavily anointed and the next minute we are as vulnerable as if we’ve never been anointed. It should not be so. King Saul died as if he had not been anointed with oil (2 Samuel 1:21).
Your head, can be constantly oiled, and must be constantly oiled. Two things that will ensure there's oil on your head always are:
1. Pouring the oil - Before you can have oil on your head, it must be released on you.
God, directly or through prophetic and apostolic grace pours oil on us. The prophet Samuel poured the vial of oil upon David because, God had already anointed him as captain over His inheritance (1 Samuel 10:1). God anointed David with His holy oil (Psalm 89:20).
2. Protecting the oil
- The oil is poured on us by grace but we must protect it. Saul lost the anointing through disobedience (1 Samuel 15:22-23). Our heads must not lack oil, and our garments should always be white (Ecclesiastes 9:8). White garments represent holiness and ointment stands for the anointing. The word “head” in the above scripture reference means to shake. We can shake off the oil on our heads through sin, fear and disobedience. Dirty garments shake off the anointing.
Prayer: Pray for the grace and tenacity to protect the anointing on your life.
