Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: The Direction of the Anointing
Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 9:1-18; Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
Matthew 25:45
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Should the anointing be directed towards God or human beings? We must have a perfect balance in this matter. We must give to God and people. Serve God and people. Use your anointing to serve the poor or give them your substance. Jesus Christ stated that what we do for people on earth, we do for Him (Matthew 25:44-45).
Jesus Christ said we must settle our scores with other people before we offer our sacrifices to God (Matthew 5:23-24). Two "conflicting" activities of believers are revealed in the above scripture reference:
1. Offering - There is a place for directing your anointing or offering towards God by praying, worshipping, being holy, obeying His Word and giving offerings for spiritual work.
2. Offending - There is also a place for directing the anointing or offering towards people in things which we think God does not care about. This way of directing the anointing occurs more in our daily lives than the former. Don’t pretend to worship God when you are offending everybody around you.
Believers sometimes pretentiously direct their love, anointing and giving towards God to the neglect of people. We should not pretend to love and serve God whilst hating people. We can’t see God but we see people constantly (1 John 4:19-21).
Prayer: Ask God for the heart to love everybody He brings to you.
