Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: The Anointing to Work
Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 9:1-10; Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
Ecclesiastes 9:10
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
Ecclesiastes 9: 8, 10 directs you to do every work you have with all your MIGHT. The might in question includes physical strength, wisdom and the power of the Holy Ghost to work. We spend A LOT OF TIME doing secular work or studying and we must have RESULTS AND REWARD. The anointing gives us the results and reward.
The forces behind work in Ecclesiastes 9:10 are grace and the grave.
1• Grace- “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;…” The anointing to work expresses itself in the grace we have. Grace is divine enablement to execute an assignment. We don’t have the grace for everything but just some things. The anointing – grace – enables us to obtaining results and reward in whatsoever we do. Cain and Abel were graced for different things (Genesis 4:1-2).
2• Grave- “…for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” The grave stands for the end of opportunities, end of life on earth and judgement. Cain and Abel with Judged. The servant with five talents in Jesus Christ’s parable received results and a reward (Matthew 25:20-21). The anointing empowers us to be fruitful and glorify God in whatsoever we do, anywhere and anytime.
Before the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the apostle Paul warned the Thessalonians against not working (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12). Throw away your excuses and work. Working is godly and the anointing is given to us to work.
Prayer: Ask God to give you a job that will give you joy, and the grace to be efficient.
