Month Theme: Reaping in the Jubilee
Topic: The Power of Joy
Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 8:9-10, Eccl. 5:19
Main Text: Leviticus 25:10
Luke 4:19
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Joy must be our response to the divine mercies of God during the Jubilee.
The demonstration of God’s love and power in delivering those who are under bondage should release unspeakable joy in us.
Failure to rejoice when God gives deliverance to people suggests that we don’t value His deliverance. Nehemiah, Ezra and the Levites admonished the Jews to go and eat the fat because the joy of the LORD was their strength.
Weeping weakens us but the joy of the LORD strengthens us.
The joy of the LORD is a driving force – it is our strength when it drives us. What does the joy of the LORD give us strength or drive us to do? We find this by reading the rest of the verse from the top. The word “for” means what comes before “the joy of LORD is your strength” is the result of the joy of the LORD.
The joy of the Lord gives us the power to:
1. GO
Go your way – spiritually stands for obedience and purpose.
The energy to move around and fulfil God’s plans.
2. EAT
Eat the fat – spiritually stands for the Word and revelation.
Eating the fat refers to the availability of meat and the appetite or power to eat. Some have food but have no health, peace or joy to eat it.
3. DRINK
Drink the sweet – spiritually stands for the Holy Ghost.
Drinking the sweet is the availability of exotic drinks and the appetite to enjoy them.
4. SEND
Send portions to others – spiritually stands for giving, sharing and impartation.
Having surplus meat and drinks to share with others.
Prayer: Pray for yourself, that you will receive the power to eat, drink and send portions to others. Pray that you will also receive unspeakable joy.
