Month Theme: Reaping in the Jubilee
Topic: The Explosion of Joy
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 61:3
Main Text: Leviticus 25:10,
Luke 4:19
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Discouragement and depression cover people until the Jubilee is announced. The activities of the Jubilee namely forgiving debts, freeing slaves, returning people to their properties and families and experiencing God’s mercies, saturate the atmosphere with the explosion of Joy. JOY IS GLADNESS OR REJOICING.
The Messiah’s mission gives those who mourn in Zion beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Joy is the PROMISE of God.
The Psalmist says weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5
A joyful noise is a powerful noise. The evidence of joy in the above scripture reference are three-fold:
• SOUND
Make a joyful noise – you must make the noise; it does not come automatically. It could be any sound. Clapping, stamping of the feet or shouting.
• SINGING
Make melody in your heart.
• SATISFACTION
Satisfaction is the heart of thanksgiving
Prayer: Pray for yourself, that you will receive beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
