Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: The Seven Spirits of God
Scripture Reading: Exodus 30:1-26; Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
Revelation 4:5
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
In the book of Revelation 4:5, John mentioned the seven spirits of God. There is only one Holy Ghost so the term, “seven spirits of God”, refers to the seven-fold character of the Holy Ghost. There is one Spirit with a seven-fold characterisation. Isaiah 11:2 portrays the character of the Holy Ghost in the Messiah’s life on earth.
1. The Spirit Of The Fear Of The LORD
The Spirit of “the fear of the LORD” is the reverential fear of God. This is where the beauty of the anointing begins. The anointing gives reverence to the Lord and does not do its own will.
2. The Spirit of knowledge
Knowledge is the recognition of truth as revealed in the Word of God. Knowledge is backed by practical action and obedience.
3. The Spirit of Understanding
Understanding is the ability to reason and draw conclusions from facts. With understanding we bring together what we know. Understanding is coordinated knowledge.
4. The Spirit of Wisdom
Wisdom is the application of knowledge and understanding to obtain results. It is the practical application of knowledge and understanding. With wisdom, we formulate strategies to win. Wisdom produces skilfulness in people.
5. The Spirit of Counsel
Counsel is advice. With counsel, we achieve the purpose of Jesus Christ for the Church. Counsel is the impartation of wisdom. Counsel is wisdom in distribution.
6. The Spirit of Might
After receiving wisdom and counsel you need might to carry out your divine callings. Might is the inherent ability to perform an act.
7. The Spirit of the LORD
The Spirit of the LORD resting on believers typifies the lordship of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Ghost over our lives. We don’t struggle with the devil, world or our flesh because the Spirit of the LORD rests on us.
Luke 4:18 shows that when the Spirit of the LORD rested upon Jesus Christ, He was empowered to preach, heal the broken hearted, set captives free and heal the sick.
Prayer: Pray for the quickening of the seven spirits of God in you.
