Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: Restoration Now II
Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 20:20-40
Main Text:
1 Kings 20:34
34 And Benhadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.
Ahab’s father lost some cities to Benhadad’s father but Ahab took them back (1 Kings 20:34). The biblical account of Benhadad the king of Syria restoring to King Ahab the cities which the former’s father took from the latter’s father, signals the restoration (to us) of the properties and birthright our fathers lost.
We can take back the land our fathers lost to others. Ahab did it through:
1. Prudence - Ahab sought for wise counsel (1 Kings 20:7-8). Wisdom is needed, if you will recover what is yours (Proverbs 11:14).
2. Prophecy - A prophet declared the mind of God concerning the victory (1 Kings 20:13). The Word of God concerning your life will prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20).
3. Power - Ahab was empowered to lead the army into battle (1 Kings 20:14).
It is imperative to take the land back NOW. We cannot postpone the restoration. It must be now. This is not the time to lose the land but to have it restored. Isaac dug the wells his father had dug (Genesis 26:18).
Prayer: Pray for the grace and tenacity to take back what your family has lost.
