Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Condemning the World by your Faith - Expose the World
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Noah saved his house with his faith but condemned the world (Hebrews 11:7). The Greek word for condemn in the above scripture reference is katakrinō meaning to judge against, sentence or damn.
The Message translation of the Bible puts Hebrews 11:7 this way: "By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn't see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God."
Noah did not condemn the world by sentencing them to death and hell. By condemning the world, he did three things. The first is that he exposed the sins of the world. Noah “drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world.” He exposed their sins (Genesis 7:1). He proved that it was possible to be righteous in his generation. Their excuses to justify their unrighteousness were nullified.
Prayer: Pray that your life will expose the excuses of the world around you.
