Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Condemning the World by your Faith - Extinguish the World
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Noah saved his house with his faith but condemned the world (Hebrews 11:7). The Greek word for condemn in the above scripture reference is katakrinō meaning to judge against, sentence or damn.
As we realised yesterday, Noah did not condemn the world by sentencing them to death and hell. By condemning the world, he did three things. The first is exposing the sins of the world. The second is extinguishing the world. The world could not corrupt Noah with their sins. His righteousness extinguished the flames of their sins when they tried to come close to him.
Noah was "light in darkness". He could not be overshadowed (John 1:5). As believers in a corrupts world, we must show forth our true nature - the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-16). Sin cannot be our nature (1 John 5:4). Like Noah, we must separate ourselves from the activities of the world; we must come out from amongst them (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). Our lives should make them feel condemned.
Prayer: Pray for the strength to remain separated from sin.
