Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Escape the Judgement of the Flood
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
We said in previous devotionals that Noah saved his house with his faith, but condemned the world (Hebrews 11:7). The Greek word for condemn in the above scripture reference is katakrinō meaning to judge against, sentence or damn.
Noah did not condemn the world by sentencing them to death and hell. By condemning the world, he did three things. First, he exposed the sins of the world, then he extinguished the sins of the world and theirs, he escaped the judgement of the flood. Noah did not drown or die with the world. He saved himself and his house by escaping in the ark (Hebrews 11:7).
Your present life and its outcome are different. What you see happening to the people of the world is not a pointer to what will happen to you. You're different (Psalm 1:1-4). Christ is your ark, and you are hidden in Christ. You are safe from the floods of life. The evil that destroys the world cannot destroy you (Psalm 91:5-8). Have faith!
Prayer: Pray for yourself and your family that you'll escape every flood of life you encounter.
