Topic: GOD RESPONDS TO FAITH
THEME SCRIPTURE:
Luke 18:7-8 (KJV)
[7] And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? [8] I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
MESSAGE:
Luke chapter 18 begins with a parable Jesus spoke, which admonishes us to remain importunate in prayer, even in the face of seemingly daunting situations. Our faith in God, that He hears and answers prayer, should ginger us up to pray always.
Our theme Scripture is the conclusion of the parable in Luke 18: 1-8 (I’ll encourage you to read the whole parable). It shows us that God is a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1); He speedily comes to our rescue when we call on Him. And He encourages us to reach out to Him in prayer, day and night!
One would ask, “But, why would God wait for me to cry out to Him day and night before He will come to my rescue? Can’t He answer me even if I don’t pray to Him, since He knows my needs?” This is where faith comes in! Our walk with God is a walk of faith; God responds to faith and to nothing else! Faith is the communication line between us and God; if that line is broken, God cannot come through. God reaches us through the “faith line”, and hence, we must keep walking and living by faith if we’re ever going to benefit from our walk with Him.
The last line of our theme Scripture reveals what God seeks from those who call on Him. It says, “Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” This means, if God is ever going to reach out to humanity, He seeks for those who maintain faith in Him, because He responds to faith.
