Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: The Restoration of Judges
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 1:10-26
Main Text:
Isaiah 1:26
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
One of the greatest needs of human beings is justice. The wrong judges are in positions and the poor, innocent and righteous are the constant victims of injustice. God will restore judges to restore to us the things – properties, positions and people – we have lost due to injustice (Isaiah 1:26). This will happen in families, businesses, ministries and communities.
The power of restored judges likes David and Solomon will restore to us what we have lost.
The word “judges” in Isaiah 1:26 is the Hebrew word shāpaṭ which means to govern, defend and avenge.
- Governing – Judges provide the rules and order by which the righteous conduct their lives to prevent their enemies from taking advantage of them.
- Defending – God is restoring judges to protect the innocent from the schemes of the wicked. Laws and opportunities will be available to assist the poor and innocent. Justice will not depend on those who can pay, and discrimination.
- Avenging – Judges will avenge the righteous by punishing the wicked who defraud them and inflict pain upon them.
The righteous should not be disillutioned by the presence of wicked judges. They don’t last forever. God is the ultimate judge. He puts down one and lifts up another (Psalm 75:6-7). The time for your lifting up and prosperity is now.
Prayer: Pray that anywhere and in any way you’ve been denied just, judges will be raised to give you what you deserve.
