Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: Restoration to the Prophet
Scripture Reading: Genesis 18:1-11
Main Text:
Genesis 20:7
7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
God has solid reasons for making people restore to you what’s yours. He compelled King Abimelech to restore Abraham’s wife to him. The word “prophet” in Genesis 20:7 is nābîʾ meaning to speak, sing or be inspired. As a prophet Abraham stood in a spiritual office to be inspired and speak for the Lord. He was qualified to speak for God because his righteousness was of God (Isaiah 54:17). The king had to restore the prophet’s wife to him to empower him to function efficiently.
Sarah’s influence on Abraham desmontrates the power of a wife, person or thing restored to a prophet. Restored things meet the needs of a prophet – for he is a prophet.
1. Partnership
Partnership in marriage, business or ministry offers sound mind. Abraham needed the companionship of a wife in the tent for sound mind and body (Genesis 18:9).
2. Purpose
The prophet’s wife assisted him to fulfil his purpose. Sarai helped Abraham fulfil his purpose during the angelic visitation (Genesis 18:6).
3. Prophecy
Fulfilment of prophecy. Sarai had to be reunited to Abraham to produce Isaac and the seed after him (Genesis 18:10-11).
Whatever you need to function properly must be released to you. Moses demanded that Pharaoh should release everything and everybody to leave Egypt with him (Exodus 10:8-11).
Prayer: Pray and demand the release of what you require to function properly.
