Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: The Restored Place
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:1-10
Main Text:
Jeremiah 27:22
22 They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon carried King Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, the noble men of Judah and valuable things from Jerusalem to Babylon. God through the prophet Jeremiah promised to restore the people of Judah to Judah and Jerusalem though it would take time. Jerusalem belonged to the Jews – you will return to your own place (Leviticus 25:10).
God wants you to dwell in a land that is yours and enjoy blessings which are yours. Renting things, squatting on lands and borrowing should be things of the past. Being in your own land is a blessing in many ways:
1. God
In your own land, you worship your own God but not foreign gods (John 4:22-24).
2. Goods
We must eat the good of the land (Amos 9:14-15).
3. Governance
No more being thrown into the burning fiery furnace and lions’ den (Isaiah 1:26). No more tribute and hard labour.
The blessings of the land God has given us are: “11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Malachi 3:11-12).
Prayer: Pray that you’ll be liberated from indebtedness and dependence on other people’s things.
