Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: The Commandment to Restore 2
Scripture Reading: Daniel 9:1-27
Main Text:
Daniel 9:25
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
We are in the last days. Believers must stop doing church and discern the times. We must engage kingdom agenda as the sons and daughters of God. All things must be restored to us. Temple worship is not enough.
The angel Gabriel told Daniel that the 70 "sevens" would begin, with the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.
This decree was the fourth of four decrees made by Persian rulers concerning the Jews.
1. The Temple 1 (Ezra 1:1-4)
2. The Temple 2 (Ezra 6:1, 6-12)
3. The Economy
The decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus in 458 B.C (Ezra 7:11-26) – the decree for restoration of finances for animal sacrifices at the temple. The Church is yet to receive and apply Kingdom financial power.
The spirit of religion and the resistance of the world will not allow us to do this. What the world demanded from the church when covid-19 reared its head should teach us a lesson. They did not ask for holiness but food and PPEs. It is the king’s degree for finances to be restored to the church. No one can resist it.
4. The City
The decree or commandment by Artaxerxes Longimanus in 444 B.C (Nehemiah 2:1-8, Daniel 9:25). Artaxerxes granted the Jews permission to rebuild Jerusalem's city walls. The Church is yet to understand the restoration of the Kingdom. We must be a world in the world. We have to change the world – our own economic, educational, health, judicial and political systems.
The first three commandments or decrees did not order the rebuilding of the city itself. Since an unwalled city was no threat to a military power, a religious temple could be rebuilt without jeopardizing the military authority of those granting permission to rebuild it. THE WORLD IS NOT AFRAID OF UNWALLED TEMPLES WHICH ARE NOT CITIES. The end or goal of the prophecy is the appearance of the Anointed One, the Ruler. This refers to Christ Himself. We have gone around this mountain too long (Deuteronomy 2:2-3). We have stayed on the temple stage of Christianity for far too long – let us go forward.
Prayer: Pray for the restoration of holiness and power in our churches.
