Topic: The Fear of Faith - Omnipotence of God
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
We have learned from immediate past devotionals that Noah feared that God could and would do what He said He would do – destroy the earth and everything in it with water (Genesis 6:8-13). He believed in the divine attributes of God that made it possible for Him to destroy the world but save him and the ark. The rest of the world did not have faith in God. The FORCE behind Noah's movement was FEAR (Hebrews 11:7). The word fear in our scripture reference is not the fear of evil, the devil or torment. It is the reverential fear for God. Noah was led or driven by the fear of God to prepare the ark.
Apart from God's omniscience and omnipresence, His omnipotence is another attribute which made Noah fear. He feared that God would destroy the whole earth but save him in spite of the deluge because he had faith that God was all-powerful (Genesis 6:13). He believed God's words because he knew God had the capacity to destroy the whole world. How we know God, affects how we fear Him. If we know Him to be omnipotent, we'll believe He can destroy all things.
God declared of Himself, saying "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:27). There is no flood of life God cannot deliver us from, neither is there a blessing He cannot bless us with. His plans and purposes for us cannot be aborted by the enemy. He will perform that which He has promised concerning us. Noah feared God but not the flood or the people who resisted him. Those who fear God don’t fear terror (Psalm 91:5-8). Have faith.
Prayer: Pray and place every difficult situation before the God of all flesh. There is nothing hard for Him to deal with.
