Month Theme: Faith
Topic: The Fear of Faith - Omnipresence of God
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
We laid a foundation on the fear of God", in yesterday's devotional, by establishing that by faith Noah moved. He moved PATIENTLY – this explains HOW he moved. The FORCE behind his moving was FEAR (Hebrews 11:7). The word fear in the above scripture reference means to be circumspect, to be apprehensive and to reverence. It is not the fear of evil, the devil or torment. It is the reverential fear for God. Noah was led or driven by the fear of God to prepare the ark.
There is no faith without the fear of God. Apart from the omniscience of God, Noah feared because of His omnipresence (Genesis 6:11). God looked upon the earth with a glance, and saw everything going on. This was enough to convince Noah that God was capable of destroying the world. God is capable of being everywhere at the same time. Destroying the world should be difficult.
God still sees everything that goes on in this world. He sees the activities of the just and unjust alike. He sees the schemes of wicked people against you (Psalm 34:27-22). He will not allow you to be destroyed. Things are not happening on His blind side. He knows the plans He has for you (Jeremiah 29:11). They are plans of peace to bring you to an expected end. Have faith.
Prayer: Pray that the Lord will locate all who are scheming evil against you, and terminate their machinations.
