Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Building by Faith
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith, Noah prepared – made, constructed or built – an ark (a chest, nest or vessel) (Hebrews 11:7). Though Noah may have acquired some knowledge in the building of an ark, and he followed dimensions and directions given him by God, it was by faith he succeeded in preparing the ark. It had to take his faith in God that He could do and would do what He had said - destroy the world by water - to keep building the ark for many years.
The ark was a vessel – a hollow place capable of containing persons or goods regardless of the shape or form. Faith produces things that serve their purpose and overcome storms. The ark was fit and equipped to survive the flood (Genesis 6:13-14).
We are all building things in one way or another. Some are building families, others are building ministries, while some are raising businesses, etc. As we build, the storms of life may come against our work, and it will take faith to keep building. Noah and his family were left alone, and probably mocked yet they kept building. You cannot be discouraged; what you are building will preserve lives some day.
Prayer: Pray for the grace to finish anything you have started.
