Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Know your House by Faith
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Noah used his faith to save his house – family (Hebrews 11:7). Your salvation must result in the salvation of your house (Acts16:31). The word “to save” in the above scripture reference means to rescue, deliver or save.
In this devotional we wish to identify our house. If you don’t know your house by faith, you will not exercise your faith to save them. Noah saved animals but some of his extended family members refused to enter the ark. He needed to “see animals as part of his house” (Genesis 6:18-19).
The members of Noah’s family that were saved were eight including himself. Who are the members of your house? It is important to identify who the members of your house are.
If you don’t do so, you will try in vain to save people who have nothing to do with your destiny just because of blood connection and neglect those you should save because they are not your blood. Jesus Christ knew the difference (Matthew 12:46-50). People who are tribalistic and racist don’t understand what the house or family is. Faith sees beyond bloodlines. Those who see family with the eye of faith sow to the spirit and those who don’t sow to the flesh (Galatians 6:8-10).
Every member of your family must fulfil the requirements below. The quality of many families is poor because members don’t tick all the boxes.
- Biological relationship (not compulsory) – they are related to you by blood. Noah saved his wife, his three sons and their wives.
- Covenant relationship – Noah had a covenant with God and the members had a covenant with God, him and one another.
- Vision relationship – Noah and his house had the vision to replenish the earth after the flood.
Prayer: Pray for the quickening of your spirit to rightly identify the members of your family.
