Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Building by Faith - Impermeabitibility
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Noah’s ARK is a type of the CHURCH and the gopher wood and pitch speak about the incorruptibility and impermeability of the Church (Genesis 6:13-14). “Pitch is a black glue-like substance left behind when coal tar is heated or distilled. It belongs to the same family of substances as asphalt or bitumen. Today, it is largely produced by heating coal. But coal tar and petroleum are not the only source for pitch. Pitch can also be extracted by distilling or heating wood. In fact, prior to the rise of the petroleum and coal industries, this was how pitch was made. It was this pitch which was used to waterproof the large ocean-going wooden ships.”
The word “pitch” means to forgive, expiate, be merciful and pacify. We receive forgiveness through the blood that flowed from Jesus Christ’s wounded body like the resin from wounded trees. We are pitched with the blood. Sin, condemnation, sickness, death and destruction cannot cross the blood line and permeate believers and the Church (Exodus 12:13; Revelation 12:11). Faith does not require things that are heavy and expensive to build the ark that survives a deluge. Wood and pitch are enough. The foolishness of God (wood) is wiser than men (1 Corinthians 1:25-29).
Prayer: Pray and declare that you, your family, your business, your ministry, etc are impermeable to sin, condemnation, sickness, death and destruction through the blood of Jesus Christ.
