Month Theme: Manifestation
Topic: The Secret of Waiting
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-13
Main Text:
Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
The earnest expectation of the creature (believers) is/are waiting for the manifestation of the God – glorification (Romans 8:19). The Greek word for “waiteth” means to look or wait for.
The secret of waiting is to move towards an expected end.
Waiting in a state of motion leads to winning.
Waiting does not mean to remain stationary and expect something to come to you. Waiting for an expected end is not a licence for idleness. It is not a period of wasting away one’s life, but a period of making productive input into the process of attaining that expected end. Waiting in a stationary state leads to wasting.
We are WAITING to WIN (GLORIFIED) but not to be WASTED.
Elisha demonstrated how to wait to be glorified but not to be wasted. He made the progressive journey with Elijah until he was glorified from ELIJAH’S MINISTER to the man with ELIJAH’S MANTLE. If Elisha had remained stationary at Gilgal, he wouldn’t have seen Elijah go,and he would never had received the mantle (2 Kings 2:1-10).
Prayer: Pray for the grace and wisdom to have the right attitude while waiting.
