Month Theme: Manifestation
Topic: Exercise Stewardship
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-22
Main Text:
Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
We are manifested as the “huios” of God to exercise stewardship over creation. The word steward in the 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 is the Greek word oikonomos meaning governor, house-distributor, manager, overseer, treasurer, chamberlain or preacher. The leaders of the city of Jericho entrusted the prosperity and welfare of the city to the stewardship of Elisha (2 Kings 2:19-22).
Elisha's stewardship was exercised in:
1. Heading: The leaders of Jericho called Elisha lord. He knew that he was the head but not the tail. The leaders of the city accepted that. The sons of God must have the boldness to know that they are the head and people must have the humility to accept God’s elected sons and daughters as heads.
2. Hearing: They brought a request and he heard them. The sons of God cannot perform until the people believe in the anointing and ask. They must also position themselves to hear the cry of the people.
3. Healing: They brought him a cruse with salt and he healed the land. What people put in the hands of a man of God is what he or she uses to give them a miracle or heal them.
Stewardship is when people believe in you as a prophet, call you lord and bring their creature-ness or weaknesses to you for solution.
The people of Jericho believed in Elisha because of his charisma (divine gratuity, spiritual endowment or miraculous faculty). Nothing happens until we believe those God chooses and sends (John 1:11-12). Believing the stewardship of the prophets of God brings prosperity (2 Chronicles 20:20).
Prayer: Pray for the grace to be a good steward of what and who God places in your care.
