Month Theme: Faith
Topic: The Indispensability of Faith
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Habakkuk 2:4
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
Faith is the supernatural ability to depend on God or trust Him to fulfil what He has revealed, spoken or written. The opposite of faith is a soul which is lifted up and trusting itself. Any soul which is lifted up or proud trusts in itself, and that soul cannot please God (Luke 12:13-21). Those who please God live by faith (Hebrews 11:6).
The secret to surviving and thriving in these COVID-19 times and beyond is faith – not science, not knowledge, not wealth and not power. Science has failed to understand the virus. The world has limited knowledge on what has hit it. Wealth and power have proven powerless in the face of COVID-19. When the devil desired Peter, Jesus Christ ensured Peter's preservation by praying for his faith not to fail (Luke 22:32). What the righteous needs for survival is faith.
Faith is not a mental or intellectual thing. We cannot create faith in our hearts by trying – it is generated in our hearts by the Holy Ghost as we receive the Word of God. You cannot have faith until God has spoken or written. Having faith is predicated on the revelation of God. Faith comes by hearing; by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
Prayer: Pray that your faith will not fail, in difficult times, including these times of COVID-19.
