Topic: FAITH DEFINED
THEME SCRIPTURE:
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
MESSAGE:
Having established that faith is God’s language, and that, we would need to speak the faith language if we’re ever going to be successful in our walk with God, it’s prudent we find out how Scripture defines faith at this juncture.
Our theme Scripture seems to give us the best definition of faith; it says, “NOW FAITH IS...” This automatically defines the realm in which faith operates; faith operates in the NOW! Faith is the means by which we deal with issues in the now; it is the lifeline that enables us to live the supernatural life, which is simply, the life superior to the natural life.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for...” In other words, by your faith, you can lay hold on what you hope for, and bring it into the now! What you’re hoping for is in the future, but faith gives tangibility to what is in the future, and that which you hope for becomes a substance in your spirit. Nobody sees it, but the faith you exercise to bring what is in the future into the now, becomes the evidence that you have it. That evidence can be so strong that, though you cannot point to anything in the physical that you have what you hope for, yet, you know that you have it, and you can bet your life on it. That’s why our theme Scripture says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, THE EVIDENCE OF THINGS NOT SEEN.”
This is where the Word of God comes in. It is the unseen Word of God that builds evidence in our spirits, and for that matter, builds faith in us. No wonder Romans 10:17 (KJV) says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” We can therefore define faith as the response of the human spirit to the Word of God. When the human spirit opens up to the Word of God, that substance that is built up in your spirit; that tangible evidence in your spirit that says the Word is true, is called faith.
I pray that you’ll open your heart to faith-building messages that will build your faith strong, in Jesus’ Name.
