Month Theme: Release
Topic: The Proclamation of Release
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:8-13
Main Text:
Leviticus 25:10
10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
Jesus Christ “proclaimed the Jubilee” to the people who lived in Israel during His earthly walk and the believers of today, by preaching the acceptable year of the Lord. In the proclamation of the Jubilee, He invited those who laboured to come to him for rest (Matthew 11:28-30).
The proclamation of release leads to rest. Matthew 11:28 sums up everything that is needed to give us rest.
1. Received
The invited people could not have come to Jesus Christ without repentance. Those who come to Him are received.
2. Released
Released from labour – work hard, feel fatigue, toil, wearied. We are released from slave masters and hard labour. Physically released.
3. Restored
Heavy laden – to load up, overburden. Labour leads to the erosion of confidence, pride, and joy. God restores our souls when we are released from bondage. Spiritually, mentally and emotionally restored.
4. Rested
Rest – repose, refresh, be exempt. God exempts us from hazardous labour.
The Jubilee is a period of rest. Our yoke is easy and our burden is light. We don’t have to wait for every fifty years to experience our Jubilee. From the day Jesus Christ declared, “it is finished” on the Cross, He proclaimed our Jubilee. We are free from the works of the devil namely sin, sickness, poverty, depression and death. Our rest in Christ is guaranteed (Hebrews 4:3-6).
Prayer: Ask God to give you the wisdom and boldness to be released from hazardous and exploitative labour.
