Month Theme: Release
Topic: The Visitation
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:8-13
Main Text:
Luke 19:44
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Jesus Christ prophesied about the imminent destruction of Jerusalem because of their failure to take advantage of their time of visitation to be saved (Luke 19:41-44). This prophecy came to pass in AD 70 when Roman soldiers surrounded the city and destroyed it.
The word visitation in Luke 19:44 means a visiting, an overseeing, investigation or inspection. It speaks about overseership or office of an elder. Jesus Christ came to oversee and lead Israel into freedom but they did not receive Him. The word weep means to lament or wail. Jesus Christ lamented over Jerusalem.
The times we live in are not times for celebrations and rejoicing but lamentation (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4). It is time to help those who are struggling. It is time to connect more to God in prayer and study of the Word.
Prayer: Pray that you’ll always be sensitive to know the times and seasons.
