Month Theme: Let Brotherly Love Continue
Topic: There is no Fear in Love
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:1-9
Main Text:
Hebrews 13:6
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
For brotherly love to continue we must overcome every form of fear (Hebrews 13:1, 6). Love does not coexist with fear. The flow of love is hindered when fear saturates the atmosphere. The fear in us (fear some things like poverty, sickness, witchcraft or death), the fear of us (the things that make others fear us) and the fear against us (fear of what someone will do against us) must be ejected from our lives by the introduction of the love of God.
You cannot love people if you are suspicious or afraid of them. The fear of being cheated or exploited in relationships has denied many people fulfilment in their relationships. Marriage relationships have suffered because of fear and insecurity. Fear and suspicion have expelled love from the relationship. Work relationships have become poisonous. Colleagues are destroying one another, subordinates are betraying their leaders, and superiors are stifling subordinates. Fear has even shuttered ministry relationships so that spiritual children have become disgruntled, and the fathers are overly suspicious.
Hebrews 13:6 was quoted from Psalm 118:6:
"The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?"
Fear paralyses love and hinders us from releasing our gifts and talents for the blessing of others. The parable of the unfaithful servant shows the effect of fear on performance (Matthew 25:24). Fear made him unproductive. There is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear. He that has fear is not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18). The more love you introduce into your life, the less room there is in your life to accommodate fear. For brotherly love to continue we must do away with fear.
Prayer: pray for the love of God to saturate your heart.
