Month Theme: Let Brotherly Love Continue
Topic: Cast Out Fear
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:1-9
Main Text:
Hebrews 13:6
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
One of the ways to let brotherly love continue is to defeat fear (Hebrews 13:1, 6). Fear is an antagonist of love. The fear of man leads to betrayals, eye service, disobedience to God and non-fulfilment of purpose. The writer of Hebrews admonished the believers to overcome the fear of man. The fear of evil men and women is a snare (Proverbs 29:25-26).
Two ways to cast out the fear of evil and the fear of man are:
1. SAYING
- What you say about God and His power casts out the fear of man and evil. Power has been vested in our tongues (Proverbs 18:21). We should not be quiet while evil people speak curses. Say what God has said concerning you (Psalm 91:2; Hebrews 13:6).
2. STANDING
- Standing speaks of your mandate, calling and anointing. You stand by the Lord of the whole earth and He stands by you – no man or evil can hurt you (Zechariah 4:14). You are not quick to revenge or disobey God. If you don’t know where you stand you will run away and leave the flock or run away and leave your leaders, spouses and team mates (Psalm 118:6).
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love" (1 John 4:18). We demonstrate our love for God by saying of the Lord and standing by Him. This demonstration of love cast out fear – it is perfect love. There is no fear in love.
Prayer: ask God to perfect His love in you.
