Month Theme: Faith
Topic: The Portal of Faith
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:1
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
A portal is a grand and imposing entrance. It is often extended metaphorically like the portal of heaven. The portal or means through which the carnal person understands things is what he or she knows through science, experience, logic, divination, sorcery and hearsay.
When Jesus Christ asked His disciples to tell Him whom men said He was, their initial responses were all based on hearsay (Matthew 16:13-20). However, Jesus Christ said Peter’s response was not revealed to him by flesh and blood. It was not received through the portals of human imagination but through faith in the Father. Believers are supposed to understand things through faith. You cannot understand how the worlds were framed through other means – faith from your spirit is the only reliable portal of understanding (Hebrews 11:3).
May faith become your centre of understanding and portal of digesting things. Without faith, it is impossible… (Hebrews 11:6). “It” in the above scripture reference is anything WE NEED OR WANT TO DO – it is impossible. It cannot happen and you cannot have it. Whether it is a sacrifice, worship, etc. it cannot please God without faith (Hebrews 11:4).
Prayer: Pray that your portal of faith will come alive; that you will not depend on natural means but faith.
