Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Sons of Rest by Faith
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Lamech named his son Noah because the world and the earth needed comfort and rest concerning the toil of their hands. Noah was prophetically named the deliverer of the family, and indeed through him, the family was preserved (Genesis 5:28-29). You were not born to bring shame to your family or become a liability to the family. You came to bring them rest and comfort.
Hebrews 11:7 describes the dynamics of Noah’s faith. The rest Noah brought the earth came through the application of his faith. When God’s instructions came to Noah, we are not told he was a craftsman, neither are we told he was a specialist in taming wild animals, nor are we told he was a meteorologist (Genesis 6:13-15). Noah had to move by faith to execute the instructions given to him by God.
The greatest WEAPON OR TOOL in the hands of sons of rest is FAITH. When satan sought to sift Peter as wheat, Jesus Christ prayed for him that his faith will not fail (Luke 22:31). Peter’s faith was his weapon, and he could not lose it. When the floods come, hold on to your faith. When the attacks come, hold on to your faith in God. It is through faith you will bring your rest to your people.
Prayer: Pray for the grace and faith to bring rest and comfort to all who are connected to you.
