Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Faith for Work
Scripture Reading: Genesis 6:1-15; Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Apart from receiving wisdom from God through faith, Noah also did his work by faith. The voice of the majority is not always the voice of God. The voice of faith, however, always leads one to the voice of God. The instruction to build the ark came to Noah only (Genesis 6:12-13). The rest of the people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving into marriage (Matthew 24:36). Imagine what it looked like to have Noah suspend all his activities and spend years building an ark, while everybody was about their usual businesses. It would require faith. You do not have to pattern your business, ministry, family after what everyone else is doing. It has to be based on the pattern God has given you. It may not be popular, but have faith.
Difficult and uncertain times are periods believers must work by faith. Noah built the ark at a time when there was no evidence of a flood. Everything pointed to the contrary, yet he built the ark. People tend give all sorts of excuses in times of difficulty, like this COVID-19 period. Believers must however believe God to work in such times. God is capable of sustaining your business in these times. Have faith in Him. Trust Him for new business ideas. Trust Him to preserve your investments. The prevailing conditions may not seem to support the growth of businesses, but God can empower you to grow the business or ministry.
Noah successfully built the ark, kept his family and animals safe in the ark, survived the flood and became a farmer. Just after the flood, Noah worked (Genesis 9:18-20). It will take faith to start all over again, immediately after everything you had was destroyed. Noah had faith that God was not going to destroy again (Genesis 9:11-17). He had faith in the covenant God had with him. He built the ark and became a farmer after the flood – faith empowered and directed him. You may have lost your business or ministry, but you can start again. It is too early to give up. Have faith to work again. Your health may have failed you in your line of duty, but you have life. You can go into another venture by faith. Do not give up on your gift. Work by faith.
Prayer: Pray and declare over your business, application letter, ministry, etc that it will be successful.
