Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Faith for Warning
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
By faith Noah paid heed to God’s warning and saved his family. Faith does not only respond or react to POSITIVE and exciting things from God, but also to CHALLENGING AND FRIGHTENING THINGS. Many believers are only interested in the faith to receive blessings or to overcome an adversary. They're not interested the faith to hear warnings.
The word warn is the Greek word chrēmatizō which means warn, to utter an oracle, intimidate, reveal and admonish. By faith Noah was WARNED about imminent challenging times but NOT PROMISED good things or favourable conditions (Hebrews 11:7). Noah had THE OTHER KIND OF FAITH – faith that God can destroy people and the earth.
Believers today hate to hear any warnings from prophets – they doubt them and call them doom and gloom prophets. We must however test the spirits to tell which is false, and not to judge based on the warnings. Believers believe that with God nothing good shall be impossible (Luke 1:37). They however, deny the fact that “nothing shall be impossible” includes the things they call evil, unfavourable conditions, pain and judgement. All these things are not impossible to God. If there is anything to take serious, the warnings from God should be one.
Prayer: Pray that your spirit will be alive to warnings from God.
