Month Theme: Manifestation
Topic: The “Creature-ness” of the Creature
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-13
Main Text:
Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
I wish to call the weak attributes of the creature, CREATURE-NESS. The creature-ness of the creature embodies weaknesses of the creature. The life of Elisha reveals the creature-ness of the creature. He exhibited glorious power (the ability to create and do things) and prudence (the ability to think, discern and judge matters) but he had the weakness of a creature. Elisha divided the Jordan (2 Kings 2:13-14) and gave direction to the King of Israel to save him during the war with the Syrians (2 Kings 6:8-10).
Elisha’s abilities and wisdom, not withstanding, he had pains. Pain includes the weaknesses, setbacks and death the creature is subject to. Our earnest expectation is to be delivered from our nature and consequences of our creature-ness. Elisha, despite his power and prudence fell sick and died – he was a creature after all (2 Kings 13:14).
The apostle Paul shows the pain and weakness of the creature in Romans 8:17-22. Awareness and admission of the pain of the creature is a tonic for earnest expectation. Those who are in denial of the pain and weaknesses of their creature-ness end up with pride and destruction instead of the earnest expectation of glorification.
Prayer: Pray for the grace to overcome your pain and the cause of the pain.
