Month Theme: Manifestation
Topic: 3D Expectation – Desire
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-13
Main Text:
Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
The term earnest expectation means INTENSE ANTICIPATION. Anytime one is in a particular condition or state, he or she must look beyond those conditions. Elisha desired the Spirit on Elijah to perform miracles, bless people and heal the land. He followed Elijah for the Spirit. His expectation of his empowerment and Elijah’s translation to Heaven was earnest – intense anticipation.
Expectation is not a wish but an active pursuit of a goal or result. There are three sides of earnest expectation. These three sides are the forces that activate expectation. The first is desire. What you follow is proof of what you desire. It is evident from Elisha’s request that he desired to have what God was doing in Elijah (2 Kings 2:9). Elisha didn’t mince words in his request. It was an earnest desire he had carried while following Elijah.
Elisha sacrificed everything to follow Elijah. What you pay for is proof of what you desire. Elisha followed Elijah and paid the price to follow him. Many believers follow with their words but are never ready to pay the price that comes with following. This should not be our posture. If our desire is true, we will pay the price to see it manifested.
Prayer: Pray that your godly desires will not be quenched. You will will see their manifestation.
