Month Theme: The Anointing
Topic: God Hears the Anointed Believer
Scripture Reading: Acts 10:30-40
Main Text:
John 11:42
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
The Father heard Jesus Christ always when He prayed. Even at the death of Lazarus, God heard Him and raised the latter from the dead. No situation is too late or too bad for prayer to be effectual. The Holy Ghost descended upon Jesus Christ at His baptism while He was praying (Luke 3:21-22). The voice of God followed the descending of the Holy Ghost.
The voice of God leads believers into the will of God in prayer.
The Holy Ghost influenced Jesus Christ's prayer in some ways:
1. The voice
- The voice came from Heaven. Believers must not hear from the flesh, the world or the devil. The source we hear from determines how effective we are in prayer.
2. The vessel
- The voice identified Jesus Christ as the vessel in whom God was well pleased. What God did in the vessel and said about Him, determined the outcome of His prayer. This gave Him the assurance for answered prayer always.
If the Father heard Jesus Christ always, it stands to reason that He was always anointed in prayer – led by the Holy Ghost. The anointing gives us confidence in prayer. "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:"
(1 John 5:14).
Prayer: Pray that you will always be in the will of God.
