Month Theme: Manifestation
Topic: Earnest Expectation
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 2:1-13
Main Text:
Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Having earnest expectation is a crucial requirement for a life of godliness and success. It is crucial as having blood running through your veins and arteries. It is as important as having energy in your body. In other words, anybody who is living life without an earnest expectation is not truly living. Such a life can only produce as much results as a corpse will produce; there will be no results produced. Even the created world is in expectation of what is coming next (Romans 8:19). You cannot be without it.
The term earnest expectation means INTENSE ANTICIPATION. Anytime one is in a particular condition or state, he or she must look beyond those conditions. For instance, a person with earnest expectation will look beyond these times of COVID-19. This person will be considering what kind of life he or she will be living after the pandemic. It is disastrous for one to keep looking at present happenings. Whatever is happening will not be forever. Something else will happen next. You must be expectant of the better times ahead of you.
Elisha was a man who had earnest expectation of the departure of Elijah. Elisha desired the Spirit on Elijah to perform miracles, bless people and heal the land. He followed Elijah for the Spirit. His expectation of his empowerment and Elijah’s translation to Heaven was earnest – intense anticipation (2 Kings 2:2-5, 9-10). Expectation is not a wish but an active pursuit of a goal or result.
Prayer: Pray that your expectations will not be cut short. You will see their manifestation.
