Topic: 3D Expectation – Defiance

Romans 8:19
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
We stated in yesterday’s devotional that there are three sides of earnest expectation. These three sides are the forces that activate expectation. The first, which was discussed yesterday, is “desire”. The second is “defiance”. If you will have an earnest expectation, you will need to have a desire. If you have a desire, you’ll defiance to achieve the desire.
Elisha resisted the forces that tried to distract him from his earnest expectation (2 Kings 2:5). Interestingly, these were the sons of the prophets. They had accurate revelation that Elijah was going to be taken, however they failed to make proper use of that revelation. They rather tried to discourage Elisha from going after his desire.
Anytime you have a desire, people will hinder and frustrate you. Some will fight you, just to discourage you. They will narrate to you their failed attempts at achieving similar results, just to paint a picture of impossibility around your desire. Turn your ears away from such. Sometimes you will need to tell them to shut up. Set your eyes on the Healer and giver of anointing. Fix your gaze on the Restorer and Deliverer. Lift up your eyes to Him from whom comes your help (Psalm 121:1-2).
Prayer: Pray for the grace to defy all the detractors and enemies that will set themselves against you to cause you to drop your desire.
