THEME SCRIPTURE:
Habakkuk 2:4 (KJV)
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
MESSAGE:
The subject of faith is both an Old and New Testament doctrine. If we are ever going to have a fulfilling and meaningful living in this present evil world, we’ve got to remain students in the Institution of Faith.
The New Testament highlights the subject of faith as a major theme and stresses on how the just (righteous) should live. For instance, Romans 1:17 (KJV) says, “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Galatians 3:11 (KJV) also says, “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.” Hebrews 10:38 (KJV) also emphasizes the same message, saying, “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
The last line of our theme Scripture, which happens to be a verse in the Old Testament says, “...the just shall live by HIS FAITH.” This is very revealing! It means, faith is personal. It brings to mind what Philippians 2:12 meant by, “...work out YOUR OWN salvation with fear and trembling.” Your faith may not be of the same strength as mine, that is why it is the responsibility of every individual child of God to grow his/her faith.
If you’re always going to depend on the faith of others to live, you may be found wanting in moments when you’d need to make use of your personal faith. This is why you must always build your faith strong, because faith is personal.
