Month Theme: Release
Topic: Unstoppable Release
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:8-13
Main Text:
Luke 4:18-19
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
God rebukes and executes vengeance against those who oppress His people, to demonstrate His favour and salvation towards the latter. Favour is the gravitation of love towards those whom God chooses and the visitation of wrath on His enemies.
God destroyed the firstborn of human beings and animals in Egypt before He released the Israelites (Exodus 13:15). Laban tried to hold Jacob back after the latter sought to return to his homeland. The God with whom Jacob had a covenant rebuked Laban when he refused to voluntarily let him go back to his land of origin (Genesis 31:22-24).
The Jubilee is sometimes resisted. The rich and powerful people in the society may not be excited about the Jubilee but the poor are. The Jubilee may be a threat to slave owners who may do all they can to stop it from happening but God’s power and will overrule the opposition.
Prayer: Pray and remove any obstacle that stands in the way of your release.
