Month Theme: Restoration
Topic: Restoring the Weak
Scripture Reading: Galatians 6:1-10
Main Text:
Galatians 6:1
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
One of the greatest needs of the Body of Christ is restoring wounded and fallen believers. We either ignore them or kill them instead of helping them up. If a believer falls into sin, transgression or fault we should restore them.
Three ways to restore the weak:
1. Spiritual enablement
The word spiritual in Galatians 6:1 is the word pneumatikos meaning non-carnal or supernatural. Being spiritual involves using our spiritual senses of faculties. We cannot restore those who fall without being spiritual – discerning of spirit. praying and spiritual power to liberate the oppressed (Luke 22:31-32).
2. Spirit of meekness
Don’t judge, don’t condemn, forgive (Luke 6:37).
3. Spiritual vigilance
“Considering thyself” means to take aim at (spy), mark and take heed. Spend your time being sober (abstain from wine, discrete) and vigilant (keeping awake) over yourself instead of condemning others (1 Peter 5:8-9).
“12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.” (Hebrews 12:12-13).
Prayer: Pray for the restoration of believers who have fallen or are wounded. Mention those you know, by name, and demand their restoration.
