Month Theme: Let Brotherly Love Continue
Topic: Walk in Love
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 13:1-9
Main Text:
Hebrews 13:9
9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
The connection between sound doctrine and love is not difficult to deduce (Hebrews 13:1, 9). Religions of hate are founded on strange doctrines. Some doctrines of devils command their adherents to kill in the name of God. We must defeat these doctrines to walk in love. To walk in love means to be motivated and moved by love in everything we think, say or do.
Three keys in Hebrews 13:9 determine our ability to walk in love:
1• Growth
- Spiritual growth in the knowledge of the Word and God enables us to resist the volumes of doctrines we are exposed to daily.
2• Grace
- Our hearts must be established with grace. A balanced understanding of grace must dominate our thoughts. We won’t judge and hate others if we understand that God receives them and us by grace.
3• Gain
- Godliness with contentment is great gain. What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul. Knowing the benefits of grace, makes us walk in love.
Brotherly love is only possible through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, love of God and the communion of the Holy Ghost. On that note,
"All the saints salute you.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen." (2 Corinthians 13:13-14)
Prayer: Pray and reject whatever you acquired by the flesh, and receive what grace gives. Receive what you deserve.
