Month Theme: Faith
Topic: Moving by Faith - Patience
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1-40
Main Text:
Hebrews 11:7
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Faith moved Noah. You cannot have faith and be stagnant. FAITH IS A FORCE. Noah was moved by faith. It is important to know how he was moved – patience – and what he was moved to do – preaching and preparing the ark.
Noah exhibited patience at every stage of the deluge and after. By faith with patience Noah was moved to build the ark in 55-75 years; some think it was 120 years. The water subsided for 150 days as the boat is blown steadily northwards by a southerly breeze. The ark rested on the mountains of Ararat – 364 days, 370 or 377 days after Noah and his family had entered the ark. Noah and his company at least a year in the ark.
Noah was moved – led and driven – by faith to escape destruction. Faith moved Noah patiently but not hurriedly. Most people who claim to have faith lack endurance, self-control and patience. Faith without patience is fake. God was patient and Noah was patient (1 Peter 3:19-20). We need patience today more than ever before (Hebrews 6:12).
Prayer: Pray for the grace to be patient.
