Topic: THE FRIEND WHO STICKS CLOSER THAN A BROTHER
THEME SCRIPTURE:
Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
MESSAGE:
In John 15:15 (NKJV), our Lord Jesus told His disciples, that, “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.” Jesus isn’t only our Lord and Saviour; He has also brought us into friendship with Him.
Our theme Scripture makes us aware that, there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. That has to do with dependability and reliability. Certainly, this friend must be Jesus! Jesus is absolutely dependable and reliable. He is the friend who sticks closer than a brother. Before His ascension to heaven, He told us in Matthew 28:20b, “...lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” He didn’t say, “I will be with you.” That’s a promise! What Jesus said is a present tense reality - “...I AM WITH YOU ALWAY...” Meaning, Jesus is with us all the way; in the valley or on the mountain top; in the fire or through the waters; in the desert or in green pastures, we are never alone. Hebrews 13:5-6 (KJV) says, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. [6] So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
A man may tell you, “I will never leave you nor forsake you”, and may still change his mind; but the Friend who sticks closer than a brother will NEVER change His Mind once He says, “I will NEVER leave you nor forsake you.” His Name is Jesus! Is He your friend?
