Topic: SONS OF GOD
THEME SCRIPTURE:
1 John 3:1 (KJV)
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
MESSAGE:
God’s love for humankind cannot be overemphasized; it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us. As if that wasn’t enough, God has proven His love for us by making us His sons; we’re called sons of God.
The King James Version of the Bible uses the phrase, “Sons of God” in our theme Scripture, unlike other versions that say, “Children of God.” It’s true that we’re children of God, but the phrase, “Sons of God” applies to both the male and female gender, because, “Son of God” means, “God in human body.” Did you catch the point? God’s love for His children is overwhelming in the sense that, we, who were to be ostracized; we, who were destined for the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels, were not only saved from sin, but God chose to unite His Spirit with our spirits, and made our bodies His Temple. God is not only with us; He lives in us, and He is at work in us in the Person of the Holy Spirit. We’re not ordinary! We’re sons of God! We’re gods in human body! Psalm 82:6 (KJV) quotes God, saying, “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.”
God has said! He is not a man to lie, and neither the son of man to change His mind (Numbers 23:19). A god is one who is in charge. God has put His sons in charge; we must take charge of our lives and destinies in God, and refuse to be in chains.
