Topic: RESIST THE DEVIL
THEME SCRIPTURE:
1 Peter 5:8-9 (KJV)
[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: [9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
MESSAGE:
God will never ask you to do something, if He hasn’t first equipped you to do it. When Scripture instructs us to resist the devil, it simply means, we have what it takes to do so.
Our theme Scripture describes the devil “as a roaring lion, who walks about, seeking whom he may devour.” The phrase, “as a roaring lion” means, the devil is not a lion; he roars like a lion with the aim of putting fear into his victims. Once satan manages to plant fear, he has gained access, because fear is his point of contact, just as faith is God’s point of contact in the lives of His children.
The devil is seeking whom he may devour, but the verse 9 of our theme Scripture tells us to resist him steadfast in the faith. If you couldn’t do it, God wouldn’t have told you to. Are you in the faith? If you were saved by grace through faith, you’re in the faith! As a child of faith, you have in you, what it takes to resist the devil. Yes, you have! Resist him! Stand your ground fearlessly, and he will flee. James 4:7 (KJV) says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Obviously, the devil is no match for a child of faith. Don’t cower in fear when he plays his tricks of intimidation; resist him, and he will flee from you.
