Ecclesiastical power refers to the anointing of priests. The word “ecclesiastical” comes from the Greek word ekklesiastes, which means “speaker in an assembly or church”, and is often used to describe someone associated with a church, such as a minister or priest.
We are in a generation when people frown upon the office of a minister. They see the minister’s role as a complete waste of time and resources. This generation conjures up reasons why it thinks that pastors are charlatans who are of no value to society. The evidence of the anointing on pastors is obvious, yet the dishonest world chooses to ignore them.
The book of Zechariah mentions the two anointed ones that stand by the God of the whole earth – Joshua was one of them. Zechariah the prophet did not know the identity of the two anointed ones so he humbly asked the angel to identify them (4:13-14). Our generation is too proud to ask God for answers. We are too knowledgeable in the flesh to admit our spiritual ignorance and bankruptcy. Religiosity, scientific knowledge, social enlightenment, developmental sophistication and economic power have constituted themselves into a web of deception, which has trapped the souls of spiritually lost people.
Prayer: Pray for your pastors that God will bless them, and protect them from wicked people.
