Topic: A TREASURE IN YOU
THEME SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
[6] For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. [7] But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
MESSAGE:
Our theme Scripture states that you have a treasure in you, if you’re in Christ Jesus and have received the Holy Spirit.
The verse 6 of our theme Scripture reveals that, the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness (Ref: Genesis 1:2-3) is that same God who has shone in our hearts when we received Christ into our hearts. The verse further reveals that, God has shone in our hearts for a very important reason - To give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. What is this verse of Scripture referring to? Do you remember the effulgence of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ on the mount of transfiguration? Matthew 17:2 (KJV) says, “And (Jesus ) was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.” The glory that was resident in Jesus Christ burst forth on the mount of transfiguration, and His face shone as the sun, and the attire He wore was white as the light.
God has shone in our hearts when we received Christ, to give the light of the knowledge of this glory. God wants us to know His glory, and live in the consciousness of this glory, because, the verse 7 of our theme Scripture says, we have this glory in us. The Scripture calls it, “treasure.” A treasure is something of great worth or value. God’s glory is His treasure, and He has put this treasure in earthen vessels. We are the earthen vessels referred to in this Scripture, showing that, regardless of how frail we may look on the outside, we have a treasure in us. You have a treasure in you! The glory of God is resident in you if you’re born again and have received the Holy Spirit. God has done this, so that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
We don’t take the credit for what God does in us and through us. It is His treasure in us that manifests as power and glory. Therefore, all glory belongs to God.
