Month Theme: The Jubilee
Topic: Dishonour will Give Way for Honour
Scripture Reading: Matthew 1:1-17; Ruth 1-4; Leviticus 25:8-13
Main Text:
Leviticus 25:11
11 A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
Saint Matthew revealed that by the divine act of Boaz marrying Ruth, Naomi played a part in the genealogy of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:1-17). Naomi’s predicament made way for her promotion. Tragedy translated her into God’s grand design for humankind – the coming of the Saviour.
The end of Naomi’s story did not contradict the meaning of her name. Early on, we said the name, “Naomi”, means pleasant, agreeable, delight, suitable, grace, beauty and splendour. Delight and pleasantness returned to her after a period of captivity. Throughout human history God constantly brings His people out of captivity and restores their possessions to them.
The prophet Isaiah prophesied about the exodus of the Israelites from Babylon (Isaiah 51:11). The prophetic declaration stated that the LORD’s redeemed people would return with singing and everlasting joy to Zion. An explosion of joy is one of the most important signs of the Jubilee. Believers have remained in a state of sorrow and disillusionment long enough. THE JUBILEE IS HERE AND WE MUST EXPLODE IN JOY.
Prayer: Pray and declare that shame will be far away from you; you will produce honour.
